The sharp rise in interest rates has been putting a strain on many Canadians. As a result insolvencies are on the rise this year. There are also upcoming changes to this (the insolvency and trustee industry) effective July 1st. Join us on April 24th for an informative discussion on this sector, how they are dealing with the increase in insolvency and how changes to the rules will impact the players and consumers.

ABOUT YOUR SPEAKERS

Adam Poirier, Head of Product & Promeric Technologies, FCT.

Adam Poirier is the head of Product & Promeric Technologies for FCT. In this role, Adam acts in a product leadership role overseeing FCT’s lender-facing recovery products. Adam also leads all aspects of Promeric’s industry leading offerings in the insolvency community. After starting his career with TD Canada Trust, Adam has spent the last 17 years with FCT in various leadership roles covering technology, information security, product management, and business intelligence. Adam is a member of the OSB’s Consumer Practice Liaison Committee and is a regular participant and featured speaker at insolvency industry events.

A resident of London, Adam has a passion for learning, nearly all competitive sports, and spending time with his wife and daughter.


Nathan Sugeng, Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT), BDO Canada

Nathan Sugeng is a Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT), licensed by the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Cananda. After successfully leading a boutique regional practice, Nathan was instrumental in merging Fontaine & Associates with BDO Canada, which provides the Fontaine team the opportunities and resources to grow professionally and to better serve our current and future clients.

As an experienced insolvency professional with over 15 years experience as an LIT and a total of over 27 years experience in financial services, Nathan has seen a lot of unique situations and is known for being able to understand and solve the most complex problems.

Delivering solutions without judgement and always having the best interests of our clients as the primary focus.


Mark Morgan, Senior Licensed Insolvency Trustee, David Sklar & Associates Inc.

Mark Morgan is a senior licensed insolvency trustee at David Sklar & Associates Inc., located in North York. He graduated from Acadia University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He went on to obtain his Chartered Accountant Designation in 1999. In 2001, Mark transitioned into the insolvency industry and obtained his CIRP and Licensed Insolvency Trustee License in 2006.

Mark’s insolvency practice is predominantly related to consumer insolvency matters. He has co-authored an article in the CAIRP Rebuilding Success magazine and has participated in a number of CAIRP and OAIRP education seminars as a speaker.
Mark has been an OAIRP Board member since 2017 and has been involved in many OAIRP and CAIRP committees during this tenure, including his role as the chair of the OAIRP Creditor Committee. He has served as a member of the Board Executive since 2020 and is currently serving as the Chair of the Board.
